These prunes are delicious! The great thing about buying Newman's Own besides getting a heckuva great product is that all profits go to charity-Thanks Mr. Newman! Now back to the snackin'...
Prunes aren't just for relieving constipation, they're delicious to eat and really good for you. Prunes are the best food source for antioxidants. Compared with apples:218 and oranges:750 Prunes score 5770 on the antioxidant scale.
FYI: Antioxidants are special compounds that help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. When healthy cells are damaged, they are more susceptible to aging, cardiovascular disease and certain types of cancers. Diets that contain fiber-rich foods such as fruits and vegetables, and are low in fat, saturated fat and cholesterol, are linked to a reduced risk of heart disease and certain cancers. Prunes, which are dried plums, are a good source of fiber and make an excellent choice. |

Newman's Own prunes are simply dried plums, distinctly different from the slimy packaged & preserved prunes I used to buy. These are chewy, slightly moist, dried fruit. Consistently high quality.

there is occasionally a piece of a prune pit but otherwise these are great, and the fact that they are organic helps too --
i recommend them heartily to all. |
Meaty not Slimy

These are the best prunes. If you don't like slimy, wet prunes buy these. They are drier than others, like a raisin would be. But, you have to buy them in this type of container. If you buy them in a foil, zipper package, they are slimy (even the Newman's Own brand), but for some reason, if you buy them in this container, they are not.
Great value!

Very pleased with the purchase and product. We buy as many organic products as possible, and although raisins are readily found on the grocery shelves, prunes are not.
Good value and great product! |

I'm not an expert on prunes, in fact I can't remember the last time I bought or ate any. But this product made a prune lover out of me. They are moist and sweet but not overly. A word of caution, beware of small bits of pit, so far it hasn't been common place, but boy does it ever put a halt to your chewing when you do bite down on a piece. So far no lost fillings but sure gave me a fright, chewing more slowing now.
Delicious and fresh

These arrived quickly and were very fresh and soft. Our whole family really likes them and in fact, it's hard not to eat too many. We have had problems in the past getting prunes that we couldn't make into prune butter if we wanted to (for lowfat baking) but these would certainly work very well.
Decadent!

This is my favorite prune! These are moist and smooth and rich. I've had some figs that give the same sort of experience. These are not tart at all, really a pleasurable not-too-sweet desert or snack.
Great taste and value

Since we use a great amount of prunes, Newman's Own« Organics Organic California Prunes, Pitted, 12-Ounce Unit (Pack of 6), are excellent for us. I can't find six 12-ounce single packs anywhere for the price I pay for the six-pack here. We just started on our second six-pack and so far have only found one pit. Which is excellent; the brand I used to buy wasn't pitted very well and I had to be very careful of my teeth. This is definitely a good deal for us especially, when I add something else to my order which brings it to the amount that qualifies for free shipping.

This prunes are delicious and full of antioxidants. Don't forget about fibre which is good for your bowel movement as well. For the taste, it's not too sweet and not to dried -- I liked it!
Would a prune by any other name taste so sweet?

These are simply the best prunes I have ever eaten. They are moist, chewy, and chock full of flavor. Oh yeh, they're really good for you, too, and they left out all the poisonous chemicals and unnecessary additives. They are reasonably priced, and the profits go to charity. What more could you ask for from a humble piece of fruit?
Very good

I wasn't sure about its quality when I placed an order since some reviewers said the prune was hard and dry. So when I first tried it, I was pleasantly surpried since it's soft, moist and sweet. Will buy again when I'm running out.

I've never been disappointed in a Newman product. They are always quality products. These prunes are great. I like to prepare a few days servings of prunes in yogurt. The prunes get soft and juicy in the yogurt. They are also great to snack on.
ummmmmmmmm good.

These prunes are the best! They're not dry anymore!

Other reviewers said these prunes are dry, but they aren't anymore! They must have changed the way they process/package them. Now they come in a pouch, rather than the round tub, and you are supposed to refrigerate after opening. I didn't with the first pouch and they were fine though. I bought these prunes before because they are organic, $ goes to charity and they are a lot less expensive than at Whole Foods, but now I also buy them because they are moist, yummy and the best!

I'm so used to having to acquiesce to "a little drier, chewier" than dried fruit laden with chemicals. Not these prunes, they're really moist & no seed chips found yet.
